I had a great time talking with Matt Payne recently on his F-Stop, Collaborate, and Listen podcast. The episode was just released today, so you can listen to it on your favorite podcast platform, or directly on Matt’s website.
We talked about all kinds of things – my connection with Yosemite, early influences, the challenges and rewards of photographing the same place over and over again, obstacles to creativity, ways to create depth in landscape photography, and more. I hope you enjoy the podcast!

P.S. On another note, I just added a Personal Favorites portfolio to my website. I’m often asked which of my images are my favorites, and it’s a hard question to answer. I’ve been photographing seriously for 35 years, and have made thousands and thousands of images over that time, so it’s hard to narrow down those selections. But this portfolio is an attempt at doing that. (And of course all these images are available as prints.)

Hello Michael,
What a wonderful interview with Matt Payne I am listening to on my way to work here in the Bay Area. You’re and have been an inspiration for my photography for many years. I love nature and photography since I remember, and continue to do so every day. Your words and message you delivered in this interview are very inspiring for me and I thank you for that. I am happy that I have the privilege to see you in Yosemite many time while I was taking pictures there because just like you I love Yosemite and when I have the time available to go there, I go. Also, in the ansel Adams’s gallery when you had one of those exhibitions I saw you and say hi, that was simply amazing. Again congratulations for your great and wonderful interview and as always I wish you the best. I hope to see you soon, too. And when you’re here in the Bay Area let me know so that I can invite you a Starbucks my friend.
Thanks so much for all the kind words Martin, and I’m glad you enjoyed the podcast!
