We all have a lot to be thankful for. Today, I’m especially grateful for all of you. I really appreciate your readership, comments, and support. Your participation, insights, ideas, and passion for photography make writing this blog fun!
And… I’m thankful for water. A few small storms have recently revived Yosemite Falls after a long absence, and it’s good to have it back. Last winter was exceptionally dry, so I’m hoping that the storms continue, and we have lots of that precious resource, water, throughout this winter and spring.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, with good food and lots of love in the company of family and friends. Don’t eat too much. Okay, it’s Thanksgiving — eat as much as you want!

I wish you and your family the same….its been a couple of years since Carlos Delarios and I took a class from you, but its still very endelible in our memory and we practice all of what we
learned every time we go out….at least a little bit of what we learned.
I personally follow your website and blogs all the time….pretty special. Hope to possibly take another session this next season.
Based on your class, we have some great photos from the Southwest , Bryce, Zion, Upper and Lower Antelope Canyone etc.
You are a great inspiration to a couple of retired guys!!

Although Thanksgiving isn’t specifically celebrated here in Australia, I certainly appreciate and concur with the sentiment of being grateful for what we have. Although I have never actually made it to Yosemite (yet) I know from your images that it is one of the world’s really special places, and I, like others, thank you for your skill, your art, and above all your generosity in sharing this amazing National Park with the world.
Just in the last two days news has come through that after years of negotiations and demonstrations 500,000 hectares of pristine old growth rainforest in Tasmania will be saved from logging and made into National Park land. This is big news for wilderness lovers here, and is something else to be truly thankful for. (I just had to share that!)

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We spent our’s in Albuquerque where there was not a cloud in the sky the entire weekend and much too warm for this time of year.
Anyway, I wanted to ask if you had seen the excellent article in the December issue of National Geographic Magazine regarding the giant sequoias near your habitat. It was fairly short for a Nat Geo piece but concentrated on the trees in winter and their growth patterns. It had some good photography (but not quite up to the Frye quality) and an interesting 5-page vertical stitched panorama of “The President”, the second largest tree on earth. Do you ever do any sequoia pictures in the winter? It appears their limited growing regions are fairly high in altitude and access in the winter is quite a challange. Just curious…

Thanks Jim — a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I’ve let my National Geographic subscription lapse, so I haven’t seen the article, but I’ll see if I can get hold of a copy. I do have sequoia photos in winter. It’s not that difficult — it’s about a two-mile ski to the Mariposa Grove, and only one mile (though a steep one) to the Tuolumne Grove.
